The National Teams in the world – The German Men Lacrosse National Team

In the national team members of teams, that are actually enemies, play lacrosse together, have fun together and win together. The feeling to be able to play in a national team must be breathtaking. We want to present some teams to you in a series of articles. Today we start with the German Men Lacrosse National Team.

The German Men Lacrosse National TeamHistory

Like the most of you certainly know, Lacrosse was originated by the Native Americans in North America. At that time it was Baggataway or Tewaraathon and served the purpose of war preparation. Of course, the sport evolved over the years to what we know today. It got its name, the women and men’s rules were separated, lacrosse spread across the countries and continents and much more.
In 1993 lacrosse came to Germany. The two exchange students Jörn Pelzer and Jörg Rohaus came back from the USA. In the USA they saw lacrosse for the first time. Due to their enthusiasm, they founded the first lacrosse clubs for men in Munich and Berlin. In 1994 the annual Berlin Open were held for the first time. Over the years more and more clubs were etablished, so in 1998 the German Lacrosse Association (DlaxV) was found.
In 1994 the German Men Lacrosse National Team participated in a World Championship in England. Until now they have participated in 9 European Championships in 1995 and 1996 6th place, 1997 5th place, in 1999, 2000 and 2004 2nd place, 2001 European Champion, 2008 3rd place and 2012 7th place. In addition they have participated in 6 World Championships where they were 1998 and 2010 6th place, 2002 7th place, 2006 8th place and 2014 9th place.

The current male team consists of 28 TOP players of German Lacrosse teams. We have summarized the individual players for you here.

Adrian Nolte

He has been playing lacrosse since 2006 and currently plays in the offense of the KKHT Schwarz-Weiß Köln. He lives in Cologne and is a student at the Fresenius University. His national and international accomplishments include the Berlin Open, ELL, Ales Hrebesky Memorial Cup and some more.

Wolfgang Grießl in the German Men Lacrosse National Team

Wolfgang Grießl

Since 2008 he has been playing lacrosse. Currently he plays, as a midfielder at the HLC Rot-Weiß München. He lives in Munich and is a student at the TU of Munich for Sports Studies. He is also the coach of Munich Lacrosse. His national and international accomplishments include the German Champion, European and World Championships and some more.

Moritz Spiegel

He has been playing lacrosse since 2008 and currently plays as a Midi or F/O at the HTHC Hamburg Warriors. He lives in Hamburg and is an IT-specialist – application developer. His national and international accomplishments include the German Youth Championships, Men’s World Championship and much more.

Benedict Fohrmann

He has been playing lacrosse since 2005. Currently he plays in the defense at HLC Rot-Weiß München. He lives in Mülheim an der Ruhr and is a student. His national and international accomplishments include the Berlin Open, U21 World Cup and much more.

Björn Wulf Meyer

He has been playing lacrosse since 2007 and currently plays as LSM at HLC Rot-Weiß München. He lives in Herford and is Dipl. Ing. for business engineering. His national and international accomplishments include German Champion, Berlin Open, Amsterdam Lowlands and some more.

Jake Steinfels

He has been playing lacrosse since 2006. Currently, as LSM at HTHC Hamburg Warriors. He lives in Hamburg and is a student at the University of Hamburg. His national accomplishments are 3rd place at the DM 2015 and some more.

Jan Benninger

He has been playing lacrosse since 2007 and is currently a goalie at BHC. He lives in Berlin and is a student at the Humboldt University of Berlin. His national and international accomplishments include National Champion and some more.

He has been playing lacrosse since 2004. Currently in the Defense at KKHT Schwarz-Weis Köln. He lives in Cologne and is attending the Police Academy. His national accomplishments are the U 21 2008 in Canada and some more.

Jannik Fooken

He has been playing lacrosse since 2008 and currently serves as Midi in KKHT Schwarz-Weis Köln. He lives in Bremen and is a student at the Cologne Sports University. His national and international accomplishments are North German Champion, Greater Cleveland Summer league Champion and much more.

Jean-Christian Andersson

He has been playing lacrosse since 2009. Currently as Midi in the SCC Berlin Lacrosse – BLAX. He lives in Helsinki and is a student at the Technical University of Berlin in Mathematics. His national and international accomplishments include Ken Gallucio Cup, DM and some more.

John Dalheimer

He has been playing lacrosse since 2012 and currently serves as SSDM at Karlsruhe Storm. He lives in Karlsruhe and is a student at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology. His national accomplishments include the German Bundesliga and some more.

Kai Horstmann

He has been playing lacrosse since 2007. Currently in the Attack at SCC Berlin Lacrosse – BLAX. He currently lives in Berlin and is Ph.D. student at the Humboldt University of Berlin. His national and international accomplishments include the Berlin Open, Ken Galluccio Cup and some more.

Lars Nitz

He has been playing lacrosse since 2009 and currently serves as SSDM, Midi and F/O at SCC Berlin Lacrosse – BLAX. He lives in Berlin. His national and international accomplishments include Bundesliga East, U 19 World Championship (7th place) and much more.

Lukas Möll

He has been playing lacrosse since 2010. Currently as Midi and F/O at SCC Berlin Lacrosse – BLAX. He lives in Berlin and is a student at the University of Regensburg. His national and international accomplishments include East German Champion, European Championship and some more.

He has been playing lacrosse since 2008 and is currently goalie at the Stuttgart ABV 1863 e.V.. He lives in Stuttgart and is a student at the University of Stuttgart. His national and international accomplishments include DM, New Years Cup and a few more.

Maximilian Nösser

He has been playing lacrosse since 2009. Currently as LSM at SCC Berlin Lacrosse – BLAX. He lives in Bonn and is a student and doctoral candidate at Charité University School of Medicine Berlin. His national and international accomplishments include the Berlin Open, ELL and much more.

Max Bieber

He has been playing lacrosse since 2006 and currently in the Defense and LSM at the HLC Rot-Weis München. He lives in Berlin / Munich and is a student at the University of Innsbruck. His national and international accomplishments include the DM, EM, WM, ELL and some more.

Dominic Schüler

He has been playing lacrosse since 2012. Currently as SSDM and F/O at KKHT Schwarz-Weis Köln. He lives in Mainz and is a student of engineering rescuer at the Cologne University of applied sciences and he has many hobbies. His national and international accomplishments include DM, New Years Cup and some more.

We could not find any information about some players unfortunately, these players were Christian Baum, Lukas Badlindon, Casper Zizka and Darin Eakins.

Background Team of the German Men Lacrosse National Team

There are many more manual operations behind the team than only pick some good players and send them into a match. The head coach, for example is Matt Bagley. He must ensure that the players, who usually play against each other, play as a team. The General Manager is Jochen Ruhl and his assistant Maximilian Wagner. The Offensive Coordinator is John Mask together with his assistant Christopher Frank. In contrast, there is the Defensive Coordinator Florian Klaus and his assistant Andrew Behles. The Special Ops Coach is Chris Hettler and the Strength & Conditioning Coach is Fabian Paetzold. The medical team of the German Men Lacrosse National Team consists of the doctors Lisa Rockel and Tobias Budick, together with the physiotherapist Bianca Röpke.
