Seven years later the USA formed an US All-Star Team for the first time and sent it to a similar international invitational tournament to Australia. There the concept of a World Championship, which takes place every four years, was developed. The International Lacrosse Federation (ILF) was established to regulate men lacrosse internationally. This federation held the World Championships between 1974 and 2006. In 2008 they teamed up with the IFWLA to the Federation of International Lacrosse (FIL). The first FIL World Cup was in Manchester, England in 2010.
The American Men Lacrosse National Team won 9 World Championship titles. Seven of them in the last nine years and the other two tournaments they have finished with the second place. The most recent title of the USA was won in 2010 against Canada. They won 12-10 in the gold medal game, along with the midfielder Paul Rabil, the Most Outsanding Player. After the team was unbeaten for 6 championships they lost the final of the FIL World Championship against Canada with 8-5, held in Denver, Colorado, in 2014.
