What happened at the Ken Galluccio Cup 2017?

The Ken Galluccio Cup 2017 should be well known to every European lacrosse player, because this year the tournament took place for the 5th time in Ghent, Belgium. To celebrate this birthday, there were a total of 24 teams from 14 different countries. As you can see, there were a lot of players from all over the world, and we were there too. Organizational facts

The Ken Galluccio Cup 2017 took place again this year in Ghent, Belgium, from the 16th to the 17th of September 2017. The event took place at the sports facilities: Sport-en Recreatiepark Blaarmeersen, Zuiderlaan 5, 9000 Ghent, Belgium. The Ken Galluccio Cup has been around for years now, and this year it was n anniversary. It was the 5th Ken Galluccio Cup.

As already mentioned, there was a large number of participants from different countries. In total, there were 24 teams from 14 different countries participating in the Ken Galluccio Cup.
Among the women from Belgium – Ghent were the Ghent Gazelles, Czech Republic – Radotin the LCC Radotin, England – Hampton the Centaurs Lacrosse Club, Germany – Munich Munich Lacrosse, Ireland – Dublin UCD Lacrosse, Italy – Milan the Milano Baggataway, from Norway the hiOA Queens, from Poland the Poznan Hussars, from Scotland – Edinburgh the Edinburgh University, from Sweden – Stockholm Farsta Lacrosse, from Switzerland the Wettingen Wild and from the Netherlands – Utrecht the Domstad Devils.
The men from Vienna were the Vienna Monarchs, from Belgium – Braine -I’Alleud the Braine Lions, from Czech Republic – Prague the Jizni Mesto, from England – Cheadle Cheadle Lacrosse, from Finland – Turku the Turku Titans, Germany – Cologne the Black-White Cologne (TBC), from Italy – Milan Bocconi Lacrosse, from Norway Oslo Lacrosse, from Poland – Wroclaw the KS Kosynierzy Wroclaw, from Sweden – Sundbyberg Sundbyberg Lacrosse, from Switzerland – Zurich the Zurich Lions and from the Netherlands – Amsterdam the Amsterdam Lions.

First, the many teams were divided into different groups. The men were from group A to group D, 4 groups, and the women from group E to group H, so also 4 groups.
In total there were 6 fields, which were also played all Saturday. The start of the games was at 09:00 a.m., between 12 a.m. and 1 p.m. there was a small lunch break and then it went on until the gameday ended with the last game at 6 p.m..
On Sunday the games also began at 09:00 o’clock and also here all 6 fields were played first. After the slightly less precipitous lunch break, the game continued with the bronze games and the finals at 14:15 o’clock on field A and on field B. At 15:30 o’clock the victory ceremony was held, which offered the whole a round conclusion.

Winner

Of course tournament winners also go out, but who has now really won the Ken Galluccio Cup 2017.
The women’s finals match took place on Sunday, at 14:15 o’clock, on field A, between Edinburgh University and the Centaurs Lacrosse Club. The finals ended with an 8:6 score for Edinburgh University.
In the men’s game, the finals match took place at the same time on field B and between Turku Titans and Oslo Lacrosse. This game ended with 8:6 for the Turku Titans.
