Brine Logo white

Brine was founded in the 50’s. This means that Brine Lacrosse is one of the oldest manufacturers of lacrosse equipment. In the 1970’s, the company started to use a DuPont plastic called Surlyn for its lacrosse heads, because it proved to be strong enough to survive lacrosse games and practice sessions. Brine Lacrosse then developed a casting technique for lacrosse heads. The basic principle of this casting technique is used to produce lacrosse heads to this day. Like Warrior Lacrosse, Brine Lacrosse was acquired by New Balance in 2006.

Complete Sticks at Captain-Lax

Lacrosse originated with Native Americans before the 17th century. They made their first sticks out of wood and strung them with hand-made strings and ropes to form a net. That was the birth of the “Complete Stick”. Separate heads and shafts did not exist back then.
Today of course, we have the option of buying heads and shaft independently, but benefits of buying a complete stick are clear:

  • Technical tuning
  • Colour matching
  • Simplified purchase
  • Cheaper price
  • Huge selection

Complete Sticks - probably the easiest way to buy your gear

When purchasing a Complete Stick, there are just a few things to consider under Women’s Lacrosse Rules. The women’s complete lacrosse stick may only be between 35,5 and 43.3 inches, i.e. between approx. 0,90m and 1.10m long. All you need is a complete stick, a pair of goggles and a Captain Lax Lacrosse Ball, and off you go to your next match.
All of the different models and products we have on offer can be said to be of excellent quality. We source them from top lacrosse brands like Maverik, StringKing, Brine, Nike and STX Lacrosse. Each manufacturer uses their own special technology in the production of Women’s Complete Lacrosse Sticks. These technologies significantly influence the characteristics of the stick in terms of its weight, stability, grip and handling, as do the choice of materials, structure and composition of each part of the stick.

Women's Lacrosse Shafts - Metal, Composite or Wood?

The Shaft differs mainly only in terms of the materials used, which affect weight, grip and handling. Players need to be able to run quickly, dodge and have perfect control over their Complete Stick at all times, so the quality of the shaft is very important. Aluminium Shafts offer a good strength-to-weight ratio. However, a Titanium Alloy Shaft is even better. These are also a very durable shafts that can withstand the stresses and strains of the game. An aluminium alloy shaft combines the characteristics of each metal in the mix These are the lightest shafts and offer very high resilience. Some manufacturers enhance grip by adding a special coating to the shaft, giving a unique feel to the stick. Shafts made from wood are back in fashion again, along the lines of the motto: „Back to the roots!“. However, you should also be aware of the possible negative effects on performance of curvature, weight and grip.

Women's Lacrosse Heads - Onset or Offset?

A Women’s Lacrosse Head is not just a women’s lacrosse head. For example, an Offset or Forward Cant Head falls away somewhat from the Throat, in other words, the point where Head and Shaft come together – this helps the ball sit more deeply in the pocket. You get better ball control and can pass and shoot faster and more precisely. In comparison, the Onset Head is aligned “straight” with the Shaft. It is perfect for beginners as it helps teach the fundamentals of the game of lacrosse.

Stiffness vs. Flexibility – what’s best?
If you use a stiffer Head, you can check harder and more effectively, which is less relevant in women’s lacrosse, as contact between the stick and the opponent’s body is not allowed! A softer, more flexible head makes picking up groundballs much easier

Narrow or wide? – What is better?
A narrower head delivers better ball control and offers a smaller target area for opposing players to hit. That being said, a wider head offers a larger catching area so that you can intercept passes and shots better around the crease.

So no matter what your strengths and weaknesses are, no matter what type of stick you like to play with, no matter what position or level of experience you are – you will find your perfect Lacrosse Complete Stick with us!
